3rd Test: India revive series with 203-run win over England

NEW DELHI: India took just ten minutes to complete formalities on the fifth morning of the Nottingham Test, as the one wicket they needed to register a win fell in the form of James Anderson. India completed a comprehensive 203-run win, which has now left the series very interestingly poised at 2-1, with two Tests left to play.

It was Jasprit Bumrah's spell with the second new-ball on Tuesday afternoon that tilted the scales decisively in India's favour after they had set the hosts a mammoth 521 to win.

Bumrah's figures of 5/85, supported by Ishant Sharma's 2/70, dismissed England for 317 despite a maiden Test century by Jos Buttler, who scored a fighting 106.

England were 311/9 at stumps on day four.

At one stage, the 169-run partnership for the fifth wicket between Buttler and all- rounder Ben Stokes (62) seemed to be taking England out of troubled waters from a precarious 62/4.
It forced Kohli to opt for the new ball as soon as it became available, and Bumrah responded in style with three quick wickets that set the cat among the pigeons.
However, when it looked almost certain that the match will end on the fourth day itself, Adil Rashid (30*) and Anderson put up some resistance to prolong the wait for India to register their first win in the Test series.
There is a week's rest for both the teams before the fourth match begins on August 30 at Southampton.
