Family off-loaded: DGCA to seek report from BA

NEW DELHI: The government has ordered a thorough probe into the case of alleged racial discrimination by British Airways which had recently offloaded an Indian family as their three-year-old son was crying.

Aviation minister Suresh Prabhu Tweeted, saying he had directed DGCA to get a detailed report from BA on this issue.

The action came after TOI reported on Thursday morning about an Indian bureaucrat's family being taken off London City-Berlin flight on July 23 allegedly because their three-year-old son was crying during taxi to the runway. The plane returned to the terminal and the family was offloaded.
BA has said it takes "claims like this extremely seriously and does not tolerate discrimination of any kind. We have started a full investigation and are in direct contact with the customer.”
The bureaucrat who faced this issue has complained to Prabhu, who on Thursday asked DGCA to get a detailed report from BA. The passenger blamed an allegedly rude cabin crew member for scaring the kid which led him to crying inconsolably.
