The PM was full of praise for the new RS deputy chairman - a former journalist - and also said he was a favourite of former PM Chandra Shekhar.
"He (Harivansh) has been blessed with the talent of writing. He was also a favourite of former PM Chandra Shekhar ji," said Modi.
The reason Harivansh was a "favourite" of Chandra Shekhar was that despite being close to him, he didn't revel when the then PM was going to tender his resignation.
The BJP-led NDA's candidate Hwas on Thursday elected new RS deputy chairman with 125 votes. The UPA's candidate, Congress MP BK Hariprasad, got 105 votes.
Harivansh is a JD(U) Parliamentarian from Bihar.
