Ready for another term as chief minister, Siddaramaiah says

HASSAN: Former chief minister Siddaramaiah on Friday said if people’s blessings are with him, he will have another stint as CM, though he refrained from indicating when it would be.

Siddaramaiah claimed all his political opponents united to ensure he didn’t become the CM after the May assembly polls. “But there’s a kaal chakra (wheel of time). Those who are on top will have to come down and those below will go up,” he added.

Speaking at Hadya in Halli Mysuru, Holenarsipur taluk (Hassan district) after consecrating Eshwar and Veerabhadreshwara temples, Siddaramaiah said: “Politics is like flowing water, not stagnant. A change has to happen. I think I will come back. I’m not someone who sits back after any setback,” he maintained.
After the assembly election results, Siddaramaiah had said it would be his last poll as he was bidding adieu to electoral politics. He planned to remain active in politics and be a guide to the younger generation.
Siddaramaiah said a dangerous trend had found its way into politics, which is dominated by caste and money. He said as CM he had not differentiated on the basis of caste, and flagship programmes of his government like Anna Bhagya and Ksheera Bhagya benefited all.
Reacting to Siddaramaiah’s ambition of becoming CM for another term, his bete noire, higher education minister GT Devegowda, said: “What Siddaramaiah meant regarding the kaal chakra was he will be contesting the Lok Sabha polls.”
