Scuffle outside ex-CBI chief's residence; 4 held

NEW DELHI: A high-voltage drama unfolded at ex-CBI director Alok Verma's residence in Lutyens' Delhi on Thursday morning after his bodyguards caught hold of four men from near his residence allegedly on charges of snooping.
Verma's staff later accused them of belonging to the intelligence bureau and also released a list of their names and stuff, such as, mobile phones seized from them.

The four men were in their car on the road near 2, Janpath when Verma's personal security officers stormed out and approached the men. The men were seen being manhandled and pushed inside Verna's residence where they were questioned for around 45 minutes.

They were later handed over to the local police.
Police sources said that they were looking into the incident and analysing the video footage being shown on TV.
A senior officer, however, said prima facie it appeared that the PSOs may have overstepped in their line of duty. In case of any suspicious movement, the police should have been informed first.
An FIR is likely to be registered. The statement of Verma's PSOs will also be recorded.
