#MeToo: Probe panel holds back report on Johri

NEW DELHI: There is suspense growing over the fate of Indian cricket board (BCCI) CEO Rahul Johri who is fighting allegations of sexual harassment. The independent inquiry committee, constituted by Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA), was due to submit its report by Thursday as per the 15-day window set by the CoA on October 30.
However, the BCCI website did not carry any information if the report has been submitted by the committee nor did the board issue a press announcement. TOI has learnt that the development has given rise to speculation within the BCCI that the committee may require more time to submit its report.
It has also been learnt the independent committee has sent the deponents the transcript of their statements by Thursday morning. While most of the deponents have cross-checked and returned the transcripts with necessary corrections, it has been learnt Aditya Verma, who had filed the petition against BCCI in the 2013 spot-fixing scandal, has also written to the committee seeking a copy of his statement which was recorded so that he may verify. Verma didn't get a reply till late Thursday.
The three-member inquiry committee comprises of Justice Rakesh Sharma (former Judge, Allahabad High Court) - Chairman; Smt. Barkha Singh (former Chairperson, Delhi Commission for Women) - Member; and Ms. Veena Gowda (Advocate) - External Member IC, BCCI.
