The survey, conducted across 67 constituencies with a sample size of 8,040, predicts 43.5% vote share for Congress, followed by the BJP (40.37%) and others (13.55%). The BSP, which has ruled out alliance with the Congress in the state, is projected to win 1-3 seats with a vote share of 2.88%.
In the 2013 assembly polls, the BJP came to power with an overwhelming majority after winning 163 seats. In contrast, the Congress had bagged just 21 seats. The Times Now-CNX survey shows Congress making a big comeback in the state, with respondents citing unemployment as the biggest issue this election.
In a clear message to the Congress's old guard, the survey shows that Sachin Pilot is the best candidate to replace Vasundhara Raje as the chief minister.
Around 32% of respondents said that Pilot should become the next chief minister of Rajasthan, while only 16% favored senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot for the post. Raje, who is fighting anti-incumbency, was preferred by 31% of the respondents.
The Vasundhara Raje government also fared poorly on the performance front, with 48% of the respondents rating the work done by it as "poor". Meanwhile, 35% rated the current dispensation's performance as "good" and 12% called it "average".
Rajasthan will go to polls on December 7 this year and counting of votes will take place on December 11
