FB, Insta hit by one of the biggest-ever outage

In what can surely be termed one of the biggest-ever outage, the social networking giant Facebook is down for several users across the globe. Many users of Facebook, as well as its sister website Instagram, have claimed that they are not able to access the websites. This is the second major outage suffered by Facebook in less than 24 hours. Yesterday (November 19), Facebook’s messaging platform Facebook Messenger too was down for sometime. Several users across the globe were not able to log in, see messages and connect to the server. The outage was said to continue for a few hours before it was restored.

Facebook has acknowledged the outage. “We know some people are having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps. We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible,” said the company in a tweet on its official Twitter account.
As per the website Downdetector, which tracks outages globally, Facebook is still down in Toronto, Chicago, Washington, UK, France, Hungary and Mexico. The photo-sharing website Instagram is reported to be down in New York, Philadelphia, Washington, Boston, UK, Spain and parts of India.
"We are currently experiencing issues that may cause some API requests to take longer or fail unexpectedly. We are investigating the issue and working on a resolution." said the company on its developer page.
The hashtag #FacebookDown too is trending on Twitter in several parts of the world, including India.
