'Wait till Diwali for good news on Ayodhya'

LUCKNOW: Amid growing clamour for construction of Ram temple, UP BJP president Mahendra Nath Pandey said on Friday that people could hear some good news on Ayodhya on Diwali.

“Yogi ji mukhyamantri ke saath saath bahut bade sant hain. Nishchit roop se unhone Ayodhya ke liye yojana banayi hai. Diwali aane dijiye, khushkhabri ki pratiksha kijiye... Mukhyamantri ke haathon wo yojana saamne aayegi to uchit hoga (Apart from being the CM, Yogi Adityanath is a big sant too. He has definitely devised a plan for Ayodhya. Wait till Diwali for the good news),” Pandey told reporters in Chandauli, his Lok Sabha seat.

Pandey’s statement comes a day after Yogi said he would be going to Ayodhya with some ‘good news’. Reacting to SC postponing the hearing in Ayodhya title suit till January, Yogi had said that justice delayed often amounts to injustice.

“Ayodhya is the birthplace of Lord Ram and a pilgrimage centre of national importance. This year, Diwali would be celebrated with much more fanfare than last year,” he had said.
Speculations were rife about Yogi making an announcement about construction of a 108-meter tall statue of Lord Ram on the banks of Saryu. The tourism department had made a presentation on a project on Ram statue before Yogi and governor Ram Naik. Sources in Ayodhya, however, said there was no clarity about the project as yet. Sources said the CM is likely to visit Ayodhya on Diwali to inspect probable sites where the statue can be installed.
Meanwhile, the BJP government aims to create a Guinness record by lighting nearly 3 lakhs earthen lamps during Deepotsav in Ayodhya this year.
This year, Diwali celebrations in Ayodhya have been extended to three days from just one day last year.
